What Edsa Dos means nowadays

Edsa Dos used to be all about removing corruption and immorality in Malacanang and replacing it with people who believe in good government.

Ngayon, nag-iba na ang meaning nito. It's not really about corruption, or incompetence or about honest government. Kasi nandyan pa rin si Arroyo eh.

Now Edsa Dos, as embodied by it's leaders, is all about doing whatever it takes to get one of their own in power -- AND KEEPING HER THERE, thru electoral fraud or a coup.

It's also about looking the other way when that installed leader lies, stonewalls, steals, use martial law tactics or obstruct justice to maintain a stranglehold on this country of ours.

both edsa 1 and edsa 2 showed that it was a fight between factions of the corrupt elite. both failed in bringing about real change as both had only their self-interests in mind. they did not have the interest of the nation at hand.

we have to keep this in mind. again we see a faction of the corrupt elite trying to oust this present corrupt administration. we hope they do not hijack the people's will in trying to remove this corrupt system and install themselves.

real change must come about. i do not know how it will. but i pray for it.

You can't compare edsa 1 and edsa 2. Edsa 1 ended the Marcos dictatorship.

Edsa 2 OTOH, unconstitutionally and undemocratically removed somebody who the elites don't like and replaced it with one of their own. Say what you want about Erap, BUT Democracy was never in danger during his time.

But our democracy is in critical condition now ever since Edsa dos, and even more so after the 2004 elections.

At sino ba yung leaders ng edsa 1 and edsa 2? Hindi ba sila cory, sin, fvr, GMA? di naman kasama ang current anti-GMA opposition sa edsa 1 at 2 ah! It only shows that you can't trust civil society to reform the system even if edsa 1 was the correct thing to do.

we need somebody NOT heavily associated with edsa 1 and 2 to make real changes.

"again we see a faction of the corrupt elite trying to oust this present corrupt administration. we hope they do not hijack the people's will in trying to remove this corrupt system and install themselves. "

throwing mud on those who want GMA to resign by calling them "corrupt" is such a lame tactic. how can they hijack the system when they are calling for credible new elections to replace the GMA? meaning, the presidency is not a sure thing for the opposition. most people who think GMA should step down don't mind if somebody from the administration (bayani fernando, mar roxas, richard gordon) wins the presidency.

And neither Lacson nor Serge Osmena can be called corrupt except in the mind of those PDI-brainwashed, pro-GMA diehards.

hi john, i have to disagree with you on edsa 1. true that it removed a dictatorship but it installed the corrupt elite like the lopezes, cojuangcos, etc. did these people really try to bring up the country? of course not. kanya kanya lang kurakot. agree with you that civil society can't be trusted, since another name lang naman for vested interests yan.

agree with your comments on edsa 2 but we had no choice then, big business was pushing our economy to the brink by pushing our peso and the markets down until they got what they wanted---ouster of erap.

as for the corrupt elite against gma, they are the estradas and the other traditional politicians like enrile, maceda, etc. lacson i do not trust. serge osmena, so far nothing wrong with him, looks okay. i do not trust roxas or bf. gordon is not exactly mr. clean but he gets things done so i do not know.

do not get me wrong, i am on your side. i am not a gma fan. i am a typical middle class person sick of the different politicians, opposition and administration. i believe she should go. any wrongdoing should not be tolerated. i believe that another poll would be useless as the stupid masa can not be trusted to vote wisely and many of their votes can be bought. i am hoping for a miracle. i am hoping for someone like lee kuan yew or mahathir to come out, out of this mess we have. i hope he or she has been born already and will be our next leader.
