Cory Aquino's Hypocrisy

Cory Aquino yesterday said that we should follow the Constitution if we want political changes (OH... AND MORE PRAYERS PLEASE!!!).

Nice advice, Tita Cory. But it is an advice that you yourself didn't follow in the past. Because, correct me if I'm wrong, didn't you particpate in Edsa Dos four years ago? And I didn't recall you criticizing the Edsa Dos people power at that time, even though wala yan sa Constitution natin.

In fact, you participated in not only one, BUT TWO EDSAS. Naging presidente ka pa nga dahil sa Edsa one eh.

So please understand if I don't exactly find your "constitution talk" very credible.

More here from Napanice:

MACAPAGAL USES PEOPLE POWER HEROINE TO KILL PEOPLE POWER

FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU. FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON ME! This is the basic theme that applies to the success of People Power, when Corazon Aquino plotted the overthrow of Ferdinand Marcos and Gloria Macapagal did the same to oust Joseph Estrada. In the first instance, the Filipinos gladly took to the streets led by religious leaders and patriotic politicians. Yellow streamers and ribbons highlighted the occassion to signify the movement. In its second episode, this time initiated by self confessed criminal Chavit Singson, the charges was not dictatorship but the plunder of government resources which today still has to be proven. The target of the ouster plot, Joseph Estrada, won the largest margin of victory in any presidential election in Philippine History.

And yet civil society, including Corazon Aquino and Fidel Ramos, saw it fit to stage protests after protests to force the incumbents resignation, much like what is about to happen with Gloria Macapagal after her apology thus admitting the wiretapped conversation between her and an election official. A mock impeachment trial was staged, nationally televised, to present half-baked evidence pointing to Estrada's guilt, only to be terminated prematurely by the presiding chief justice himself who even saw it fit to join the political rally to swear in the power grabber.

So one wonders what Corazon Aquino is up to now? Why is she attacking Susan Roces by alluding that her demand for Gloria's resignation is not for the people despite the fact that Susan's demand is for the whole world to know the truth about the last presidential election? Maybe she should be made to explain the legality of her actions during her own participation in EDSA 1 and 2, which can be remembered as the People themselves acting to establish a democratic rule.

And this, PEOPLE POWER IS NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION BUT IT RESULTED IN TWO PRESIDENTS.

The whole world has known and even acknowledged the fact that what were staged at EDSA1 and 2 were extra-constitutional means of power transfer. EDSA1 even led to the ratification of the Philippine Constitution right after Cory Aquino took over from Ferdinand Marcos in order to prolong the terms of elected public officials starting with the president. In the same vein, the impeachment process that was supposed to pronounce Estrade guilty or innocent of Chavit Singson's accusations as provided for by the Constitution was prematurely terminated in favor of a political rally demanding the incumbent's resignation.

Those who supported the ouster of duly-elected leaders will be hard pressed to explain the legality of their actions and those who are now the target of protests and resignation rallies will have a hard time explaining themelves to the electorate their tried to fool through massive cheating.

Read this comment too from Jonas:

The problem with Mrs. Aquino’s statement is the fact that it runs counter with what she had done in the past. I don’t know if EDSA 2 was in accordance with the Constitution.

I think she failed to back up that statement with concrete and sound proof of her sincerity and impartiality. We all know that she was in the forefront during EDSA 2. She was there because she knows then that prayers will not remove Erap from Malacanang. She realized that only a mob rule will make things happened and unfortunately she’s right.

Erap was ousted not because of a constitutional process but because of a mob rule and Mrs. Aquino knows this very well. Did she pray then? Yes, because that’s her front. That’s her instrument of fraud. That’s her charisma to beguile.

We all know that it was only later that, after the Supreme Court to justify and granting some semblance of legality of the unconstituionality of Erap’s ouster, it’s legality has been accorded.

Now, let’s go fast forward. Mrs. Aquino is now resorting to a reverse strategy of what she did in EDSA 2. She’s now admonishing people to pray because she knows that nothing’s going to happen when we pray. Gloria will remain in Malacanang as long as we’re praying and that’s the scenario she likes to happen. See the hypocrisy there?

Of course she will denounce a possible staging of another EDSA realizing that Gloria’s hold to power is very, very, very vulnerable to mob or mass actions. May kasabihan tayo sa Pilipino, “Ang magnanakaw galit sa magnanakaw.”

It is really sad to see people like Mrs. Aquino use and capitalize on the sactitiy of the sacred act of praying to suit her political preference.

Matagal-tagal na rin naman itong pagkukunwaring ito. Harinawa’y hintuan na ni Mrs. Aquino ang ganitong pagkukunwari.

Magpaka-totoo ka Ma’am!

The proper quote is:

Fool me once. shame on you.
fool me twice. Shame on me.

John, you are so right on Cory. That is why I am kind of disappointed with her. I supported her in edsa 1. She should be consistent and not be a hypocrite.

Mrs. Cory Aquino is a hypocrite. She has no moral right to speak about rule of law. She played active an role for the unconstitutional ouster of popularly elected Pres. Erap Estrada. I believe it was a conspiracy of the elite class to remove a college drop-out and womanizer head of state. Maybe she is suffering from selective amnesia what transpired during the EDSA DOS mob rule. Mrs. Aquino and your prayers cannot save Pres. Gloria Arroyo’s imminent downfall. The die is cast !

The act of praying is good. However, praying for evil things just won't work. You should only pray for good things in accordance to God's will. Covering up evil things by prayer is not a good thing.
