Update on the Mei Magsino case

From Conrad de Quiros:

My friend Lorna Tirol, the Inquirer readers' advocate, writes:

"I'm writing in reaction to your column yesterday on Mei Magsino. While you were right to be outraged over a fellow journalist's terrible plight, I wish you...could have mentioned what the Inquirer has been doing to help her. The column tended to give readers the impression that Mei, an Inquirer correspondent, has been left to fend for herself. That is not the case at all. The Inquirer has in fact been supporting her from the start of her problems with Governor Sanchez. Her lawyer, Atty. Pagdanganan, was provided by the Inquirer. There was supposed to have been an arraignment on December 7, but the lawyer received the notice only on December 20.

"Would it be possible for you to include, in your next column, a short PS on Mei and the Inquirer's support for her? Just to set the record straight and in fairness to the Inquirer."

With pleasure. Now if only the various national media organizations will pitch in to help one of its members who have decided to take her job seriously. What are you there for people, to hold parties?

WORD!
