Critical media, not military, is biggest threat to Arroyo

Sabi ni fencesitting Joker Arroyo:

The elite forces of the uniformed services have supplanted the political opposition as the real opposition group to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The political opposition has become irrelevant in the power equation, splintered, squabbling, with neither the power nor the high ground to unseat President Arroyo.

As the recent crisis unfolded, it ws evident that the President never thought of the opposition as the power to reckon with. Uppermost in her mind always was the loyalty of the AFP and the PNP.

Dear Joker, you've got it wrong again.

It's not the military that has supplanted the political opposition as the real opposition group to GMA, but the critical media.

Kaya nga may media crackdown yung arroyo administration eh, including threats of a government takeover of the Tribune, and now this harassment PCIJ is getting for "inciting to sedition", because they posted the "Hello, Garci" tapes.

UPDATE: Baycas said:

fishing expedition and political harrassment are what they are doing…pdi has been forewarned…newsbreak was also chilled last night through raw informations of a search in ms. vitug’s office…

if this is true, then by golly, kakatakot naman ito...

UPDATE: It is not some guy with a gun that has done most damage to ARroyo's presidency and credibility, but the media that has courageously exposed GLORIAGATE and her illegitimacy (and made the "Hello Garci" tapes available), Jose Pidal, the massive fertilizer funds scam, Juetengate II... etc.

I have always believed that the fight against this illegitimate and corrupt regime will not be won by arms or violence, but by telling the truth about arroyo admin and making them accountable for it.

you will never be able to outgun arroyo's military and police, anyways.

From anna de brux:
We are facing enemies of the State who have the resources and the savvy to use all forms of media against us.

I agree the blog will be one of the useful tools to propagate legitimate dissent.

kaya nga those who say blogging or commenting is just a waste of time and that we should be doing more (like take up arms?), they don't understand na we live in an age of information warfare and propaganda.

the battleground is fought on the airwaves, the newspaper opeds, in the classroom, on the internet.

tignan nyo yung arroyo administration, lalo na yung office ni information czar ignacio bunye. they know the importance of propaganda, kaya they bombard the public with this and other disinformation on the opposition on their gov't sequestered tv stations and arroyo-leaning AM radio stations everyday.
