Bastusan na talaga

From Helga of B&W:

Firstly, the Majority in the House of Representatives screw us by killing the 2nd Impeachment. Secondly, they screw us again, this time by the deplorable act of House Resolution 1230, paving the way for a Constituent Assembly without the Senate. A member of the House was so scandalized, he said our only hope was to turn to the military, ask them to defend the Constitution from this rape (you should have voted for Impeachment, Teddy Boy).

But do we really care? So blatant a distortion of our Constitution, the bedrock of our democracy, should have us all so enraged, so insulted. But are we? They are getting away with it, as we nonchalantly go about our business of daily life, blithely unaware that we are being assaulted.

Some of those who defended arroyo like bong austero say na they are "tired" of politics, "tired" of opposition, and if the anti-arroyos would just shut up about impeachment, there will be peace, everything will be a-okay with the country, and Arroyo will achieve greatness.

But guess what, you people may be "tired" of hearing re the Arroyo administration, the scandals and politics, but the arroyo admin and it's allies are not tired of screwing with us over and over and over again.

Maybe the arroyo admin has won the battle on the impeachment (by using their superior numbers), but I think they're pushing their luck with cha cha. Not only is there no great clamor for it, but the way they're trying to go about the changes (PI and ConAss) is just plain wrong. they are abusing their powers. even if i were for charter change, i would be strongly against it because of the way it's being done and the untrustworthy people who are pushing for it.

If the opposition is smart, they should use the PI and Con Ass issue against the admin solons.

MORE: The funny thing is, I don't believe GMA herself thinks Cha Cha is that important. I myself think na only an amendment or repeal of the provisions in the constitution that restrict economic activities are needed, not wholesale changes. Ginamit lang niya ito para maging Grand Diversion from the Gloriagate scandal... para makuha niya ang suporta ng mga iilang Tongressman.

Now that impeachment is killed again, she has given the go signal to her allies in congress to initiate ConAss as a reward for them. I don't think she needs cha cha, but her allies in the House seems to desperate need it.

MORE: DJB was right, "win win" ito para kay Arroyo.
CHA CHA CHOO CHOO IS A WIN WIN FOR GMA I can see why President Arroyo would unleash all the forces and resources of government to support the Chacha Choo Choo at this time. With a Second Impeachment being threatened in the Lower House by July, (fortified by all sorts of new charges and allegations since Gloriagate itself got going last June), what better way to muddy the Congress waters and give the legislators something to keep them away from destabilizing thoughts than the keening, ululating dramas and debates of the Chacha Choo Choo? In the end, either people will accept chacha or reject it. If they accept it, GMA figures she will be both Prime Minister and President, with the head of the Senate on a silver platter. If they reject it, so what? The 1987 Constitution still guarantees her a full term until 2010. The fate of this FVR-JDV-orchestrated Chacha however, must be decided long before this year is over, because the 2007 national elections and the preparations and realignments required for that effort cannot be ignored. Perhaps, as soon as the Second Impeachment is dead, so will Chacha be, in the devious calculations of the Palace mind.

If Cha cha succeeds, great... she'll become more powerful. If Cha cha fails, OKAY lang, bucause it did it's job of diverting people's attention from her illegitimacy and corruption.

i just see so much apathy in the philippines, it beyond belief. whatever happened to the people's power movement? the pinoys no longer care. they are so tired, they could care less. this is so sad. democracy no longer works when the people do not want to participate anymore. administration after administration, year after year, they are beaten down. who is taking accountability? where are the smallest unit of governments directly representing them. the capitans. the mayors. their senators. the congressman. where are they?
