Austero: Everybody's a cheater like Arroyo

From his blog and the Manila Standard Today (ht: MLQ3)

They say that all they want is to know the truth about whether the President cheated in the last elections. Duh. We already know the truth— everyone cheats during elections in this country and I dare any politician to come forward to claim that he or she is clean. All candidates, and I do mean ALL candidates, violate election laws— from the printing and posting of posters, to the distribution of sample ballots, to vote-buying, etc. So instead of asking the obvious, how about asking a more sincere and proactive question: since we all cheat during elections, how do we make sure that cheating is eradicated from our system?

You don't want to be considered pro-Arroyo, yet come up with this BS.

I can't think of any candidate in the recent elections who did not at least print and post his/her campaign posters during the elections or distribute sample ballots. So that makes them all "cheaters" too huh, just as bad as your president ARroyo?

But how about "stealing" elections? Is everybody else into it like your president Arroyo? Does anybody else have a COMELEC/Military dagdag bawas operation similar to Garci and Arroyo's?

UPDATE: Napanood ni Dean Bocobo ang interview ni Austero back in March 2006 sa show ni Ricky Carandang. Sabi ni DJB:

But it was disappointing...Bong Austero is actually for IMPEACHMENT, just like me. In fact, if things get worse I'm pretty sure we'll see Mr. Austero at the barricades too, at least figuratively...

I thought he would actually have something interesting to say, some solid manifesto for ideological apathy. Not just another wishy-washy liberal who told Carandang he BELIEVES GMA cheated but is perfectly fine with it.

I was surprised nung nabasa ko ito. Does he mean na okay lang sa kanya yung election rigging na naganap noong 2004 by Arroyo and Garci?

But now I understand what Austero meant when he said he believed Arroyo cheated. No wonder okay lang sa kanya yung ginawa ni Arroyo. LMAO.

UPDATE: Thanks for the link, Manuel.

More here.

UPDATE: bong austero and Archbishop Ramon Arguelles must have received the same talking points from the palace.

More like an Estero thinking. From the lumping all oppositionists with the communists, its now everybody is a cheater. To some extent he is right, we cheat death everyday. With the way this country is being run by the current dispensation, everyone cheats death every single day to survive.
