But how can we win succeed in our fight against this corrupt and amoral regime if other groups who people used to rely on for moral guidance are the ones undermining our efforts and minimizing the effects of all the killings by parroting the malacanang line?
Pinasalamatan pa nga siya ng mga kaalyado ni Arroyo eh. lol.
When I asked the CBCP to speak up about the assassinations that are taking place, I expected the Church to take a tougher stand on the killings. Pero ito ang sinabi ni Rosales.
The cardinal who did not appear to be bothered by the political killings, disappearances, torture and other human rights abuses under the Arroyo regime, echoed the Malaca񡮧 and Armed Forces of the Philippines? (AFP) line, saying it is not just the military that has engaged in these political murders, stressing that the (communist) rebels are deeply involved in these political killings.
"Sorry for saying this but even our (rebel) brothers are involved in the killings. But I think what we should do now is to do away with the sin and killings and that all will commit to stop the killings and I think we would all be at peace," Rosales said.
UPDATE: Okay, I kinda expected Cardinal Rosales to make apologist statements on Arroyo.

A parrot in monk's robes.
He has been showing his true colors but still the people tried to give him space. His last statement tops the heap. The Vatican should kick him out. Pope John Paul II, reprimanded the archbishop of El Salvador for allowing the Sandanistas to kill thei own people, Pope Benedict should do the same.
my only comment here is how come you're now asking the bishop to speak out when you are always irritated when bishops speak out politically, calling them meddlesome? where's your consistency?
i don't like the bishops' silence, by the way. they should be the first one to speak out

unlike some people, i don't think the church speaking out on current issues is a violation of the separtion between church and state. i may not like it sometimes, but it's okay for them to speak up on things they are concerned about.
ang masama lang is if the gov't = church, katulad ng iran.
and i don't know about me being "always irritated" re the bishops speaking out.
if it's about their smear attacks on juan flavier back in 1995 or their retarded stance on family planning, or their meddling on the MTRCB, then yes, i let know that i strongly disagree with them. ON SOCIAL ISSUES.
pero pagdating sa PATAYAN at corruption, i expect them to be consistent. if they slammed the marcos and erap admin for their immoral, corrupt and criminal ways, then i expect them to do the same with Arroyo and not stay silent (or worse, make apoligist statements to defend her admin).
If they opposed erap's effort to bring in more gambling in the country back in 2000, they should have done the same thing with arroyo's so called sin city.
they helped take down erap because of jueteng, but in 2005, we found out from them na wala palang masama sa pagtanggap ng jueteng money, as long as it will "benefit the poor" raw. but i'm sure some of that money benefits them too... lol.
of course, what is bad before is kinda okay now.
as far as i'm concerned, their silence on arroyo's katarantaduhan is self-imposed, because i have a sinking feeling that most of the bishops are supportive of this illegitimate admin. diba efraim?

one of them spoke out nga, but only to minimize the killings by comparing them "a mere blood speck" to marcos. similar to what he did in the past.
What has gotten into Rosales that he should even make a comparisson -fewer murders are murders nonetheless.
Rosales didn't have to 'virtually' absolve Gloria for her record of extra-judicial killings just because there were more during Marcos' time.
Utter load of nonsense from Cardinal Rosales.
