The People Tarongoy should thank

Ellen Tordesillas:

I’M HAPPY that Robert Tarongoy is back alive.

I saw him on TV thanking Gloria Arroyo for exerting all efforts for his release.

He should also thank the person who tapped Arroyo’s conversation with former Comelec Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano and the people who are enraged by her rigging of the 2004 elections that was revealed in the tape. Also the media, which have refused to be enticed by Malacañang’s diversionary tactics like the filing of tax evasion charges against Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap.

It has been 17 days since Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye made public The Tape and it has not ceased to be a blockbuster. It has not yielded the headlines to other issues, not even when the BIR filed charges against Agriculture Secretary Yap, seen by editors as another of Malacañang’s pathetic diversionary tactics.

Heh.
