Which is good news, if you ask me.
From Malaya:
SEN. Luisa "Loi" Ejercito-Estrada yesterday said President Estrada will have the last say on whether she will seek a second term.
"If President (Joseph) Estrada reconsiders his position and asks me to run, then I am physically and mentally fit to do so," she said.
Estrada was said to be considering San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito, his son by Guia Gomez, to run for senator to take the place of Sen. Ejercito-Estrada.
The deposed president asked Ejercito-Estrada to make a run for the Senate in 2001 to find out if he still enjoyed popularity among the electorate.
Ejercito-Estrada was in 18th to 20th positions in surveys before the 2001 elections but ended up No. 7.
She said she has been receiving "words of encouragement" from several people, including Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
She said see wants to see her "other pending advocacies" enacted into laws.
Ejercito-Estrada authored R.A. 9262 or the ‘Violence Against Women and Children’s Act of 2004." She is working on several bills on health care and environment protection.

John, an insider and close to the Estrada family told me that there is no winnable candidate in San Juan thus JV has to reconsider his options. An Ejercito was to run for mayor but he is not too popular with the people of San Juan. Although I'm not too keen with the Estrada's, I am told that JV is very different from Jinggoy. JV is works more like a CEO than just a mere Ejercito riding on his fathers name. I suppose JV is more than what we ordinary onlookers see him to be.
okay, so jv is not that bad pala.
pero saan siya dapat tumakbo, manuel? bilang senador, o bilang mayor ng san juan ulit?
i say mayor ng san juan.
