Another great place to hold anti-Arroyo rallies in Manila

is in the converted Rizal Avenue pedestrian area from Carriedo to Recto. That's big enough a place to hold the anti-GMA rallies. At malapit rin siya sa Malacanang, so kung gusto ng mga protesters na mag martsa patungong Mendiola/Malacanang, pwede nilang gawin yan.

Kasi mukhang magkakaroon na naman ng bagong rally sa Oct 6. sa Manila:

Fr. Joe Dizon and Renato Reyes Jr., leaders of militant groups Gloria Step Down Movement and Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan, New Patriotic Alliance), respectively, said they are planning to stage another mass action in Manila, an administration bailiwick, next week.

Dizon and Reyes yesterday sought a rally permit from the Office of City Mayor Lito Atienza.

Reyes said they expect the city government to act on their request within two days.

“Otherwise it is deemed approved,” he said. “Our rally will be organized and peaceful, that’s why the Manila City Hall will not have any reason to reject our request for a permit.”

But Atienza is reportedly on an official trip to the United States.

Militants find the “no permit, no rally policy” ridiculous and applying for a permit discriminating, but would still follow the “process,” Reyes said.

“We challenge the government officials to prove their claim that they respect the people’s right to freedom and assembly,” Reyes said.

In their letter to Atienza, Reyes and Dizon said the protest activity, dubbed as “March-Rally for Freedom and Democracy,” is their way of expressing their opposition to threats of martial rule and suppression of democratic rights.

The rally will be held in the afternoon of October 6 at the foot of Chino Roces (formerly Mendiola) Bridge following a short march from the University of Santo Tomas campus on España Avenue.

Bagama’t suntok sa buwan, patuloy na inuulan ng mga militanteng grupo na kinakatawan ng mga party-list congressmen ang tanggapan ng mga Metro Manila mayors upang humingi ng permiso para makapag-rally.

Sa impormasyong nakalap ng TONITE, hindi bumababa sa sampung request araw-araw ang inihahain ng mga militanteng grupo, pangunahin sa tanggapan nina Manila Mayor Lito Atienza at Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte.

Ang bumubuhos na request sa tanggapan nina Atienza at Belmonte ay upang subukan kung kinikilala pa rin ng gobyernong Arroyo ang Presidential Decree 880.

Sa ilalim ng nasabing batas, aksyunan man o hindi ng mayor ang request ng mga raliyista sa loob ng 2 araw ay may karapatan na ang mga itong lumabas sa lansangan.

Hindi naman itinanggi ni Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Teddy Casiño na marami nang request ang kanilang ihinain sa tanggapan ng dalawang nabanggit na alkalde na pawang mga supporters ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
