BongBong esposes Joselito "Peter" Cayetano as a sham KBL candidate

Lawyer Oliver Lozano and his nuisance senatorial candidate Joselito “Peter” Cayetano were yesterday exposed as a fraud by Ilocos Norte Gov. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., after the late strongman’s son submitted a certification to the effect that one Joselito “Peter” Cayetano was not a member of the political party Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL), where Marcos sits as its president.

Lozano, interviewed on ANC cable TV’s Prime News last night, failed to explain satisfactorily his claim that his KBL-endorsed candidate from Davao, was rejected by Marcos, claiming later that Marcos was not the KBL president, but one Vicente Millora, whom he says is both president and chairman of the party.

He then claimed that the KBL he is aligned with is the Millora wing, not the Marcos wing, even as this was never stated before the issuance of the Marcos certification denying the membership of Joselito Cayetano which was shown by Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano to the media.

The congressman, who is running for a Senate seat under the Genuine Opposition (GO) ticket, showed the Marcos certification to the media, to prove that the other Cayetano perjured himself when he filed his senatorial candidacy at the Commission on Elections,.

Lozano went ballistic and accused the news anchor, Ces Orena-Drilon of bias and charged her with asking him leading questions, insisting that in the end, it will be the Comelec that will decide on whether Joselito Lozano would be disqualified.

Some jerk from Davao happens to be a Cayetano, and he is whisked off to Manila to file his certificate of candidacy for senator of the realm. Mysteriously, he claims "Peter" as his nickname, even if his Christian name if Joselito. Por San Jose na por San Pedro pa? And the moribund KBL suddenly springs to life in the person of Oliver Lozano to embrace him as one of them.

Quite clearly, it is a brazen attempt to steal the votes of oppositionist Alan Peter Cayetano, whom the First Gentleman and his brood hate with utmost passion. Write "Cayetano" or write "Peter Cayetano" in the ballot, and your vote is null and void. "Stray" because it defines neither the real Cayetano you want elected, or the unknown impostor.

And just because the impostor Cayetano, who is called "Ju-ju" by his neighbors in Davao, belongs to "an established and registered political party", the Comelec chairman says there might be problems disqualifying the impostor. Is he laying the legal predicate for the most ridiculous of decisions? Huwag naman sana, or this early, we might as well give up on elections, and march in the streets.

UPDATE: Here's the interesting part. Yung isang nuisance candidate na si Teodoro Aquino, ay tinaggal na ng COMELEC.

Rodrguez stressed that there is a precedent, as the Comelec had thrown out the senatorial bid of one Teodoro Aquino, who also purportedly aims to muddle the electoral chance of opposition senatorial bet Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“If the Comelec junked the senatorial bid of this Teodoro Aquino, why not Joselito Cayetano’s? Between the two, (Noynoy) is much better since he has a following compared to Joselito, who has none,” he said.

Rodriguez appealed to Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. to prove true his vow that he wants to leave a “good legacy” to Filipinos when he retires from his position in January 2008.

But Rufus, they did not do it for Noynoy, but for Tessie Aquino.

And the Tribune Editorial continues to "undermine" the credibility of the COMELEC:

Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. could have gained a bit of credibility for his election body, had he promptly disqualifed the nuisance bet Joselito “Peter” Cayetano, said to be running under the KBL party.

That he is a nuisance bet who has been fielded by another nuisance bet, lawyer Oliver Lozano, to sabotage the chances of Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano’s electoral victory is undeniable. That the Arroyo spouses want Cayetano out of Congress, due to his constant criticisms of the presidential couple, is just as undeniable. And that Abalos is toeing the presidential line is just as evident.

And as this issue is up, there goes Gloria’s attack dog, the Injustice secretary, coming up with a citizenship issue against the congressman, a move that is no different from Gloria’s ploy against FPJ, the opposition standard-bearer in 2004 whom Gloria cheated massively.

But there are enough legitimate reasons for the Comelec to disqualify this Joselito Cayetano.

It has been proved that this nuisance KBL bet from Davao has never been known to his friends and neighbors as “Peter” but as “Jojo.” Also, it has been found that he had falsified his certificate of candidacy with his claim that he is a marine engineering graduate of some school, when he is not.

Then too, Rep. Imee Marcos, who should know about the KBL party, has come out to state that this fake Peter Cayetano is not a member of the KBL.

Yet Abalos huffed and puffed at the congressman who was seeking the disqualification of the nuisance Cayetano, saying just because Alan Cayetano was ranking high in the surveys, or that he has the Cayetano name does not mean he has a monopoly over the Cayetano name, insisting that Joselito Cayetano cannot be disqualified since he belongs to a legitimate political party, the KBL.

What a justification Abalos comes up with. If that is the Comelec’s measure of approval or disapproval of a senatorial bet, then any crackpot named say, Recto, Arroyo, Escudero and Aquino running under a discredited party would have to be approved by the Comelec.

But then again, the Comelec, under Abalos, wouldn’t dare approve the candidacies of any “nuisance” bets with the same surnames of the Gloria bets, as evidently, the plan is to destroy the electoral chances of the opposition bets, never of the administration bets.

The Editorial ends with this parting shot:

What is also clear to the electorate is that the Comelec under Abalos appears more than willing to become an integral part of the Gloria cheating machine.

Yet Abalos is only one vote in any en banc decision. For the Comelec as a body to agree to approve the candidacy of the nuisance bet Joselito Cayetano means that even those so-called “independent” appointee-commissioners whom One Voice lauds, appear to be willing to participate in these cheating operations. There goes any hope for the Comelec to regain even a shred of credibility and respectability.

Siguro hindi fair yung criticism of One Voice, pero legit ang criticism laban sa mga COMELEC officials na ito.

Every vote must count for Alan Cayetano

The COMELEC's a disgrace. "Disqualified" raw si Juju, pero nasa balota pa rin ang pangalan niya, at "stray votes" raw ang mga "Cayetano" votes. LOL.

I think what the opposition should do now (especially Cayetano's fellow senatoriables) is to rally behind Alan Cayetano NOW (kahit na hindi pa tapos ang bilangan), hold a presscon, and condemn the COMELEC's disenfranchisement of Alan Cayetano voters. Habang maaga pa. Every Cayetano vote must count for Alan Cayetano, and not for that phony Pidal nuisance candidate Juju "the invisible man" Cayetano.

A recount may be needed. I'm also interested to know how many teachers followed the DEPED memorandum to count the Cayetano votes as stray. We need to get some teachers who did not count the Cayetano or "Alan Cayetano" votes to come out in public. We need to know kung gaano kalaki ang nawalang boto kay Alan Cayetano.

Other parts of the anti-Cayetano strategy, however, have been characterized by the same brazenness, the same use of legal form to hide criminal intent.

It took a division of the Abalos Comelec more than a month to disqualify Joselito Cayetano—the man who went by the nickname “Jojo” but listed his nickname in the certificate of candidacy as “Peter”—as a nuisance candidate. He was unknown and unqualified—not because of his poverty but because of his lack of capacity to run a nationwide campaign. Indeed, the fact that he did not give media interviews (the kind of free publicity any serious candidate hungers for) should have been enough reason to see through the nature of his candidacy. That he called himself Peter, obviously to cause his namesake congressman mischief at the polls, should have quickly led to the same conclusion: This Cayetano was not a serious candidate. That it took the Comelec en banc another six weeks to confirm the division’s finding shows that the deliberate delay was really part of the strategy. The decision came out on May 11, the last Friday before elections.

Deliberate confusion was another key part of that strategy. The day after the May 11 decision, the Abalos Comelec issued a reminder that the disqualification of Joselito Cayetano was not yet final—and that therefore he remained a candidate. On election day itself, the Department of Education issued a memorandum, signed by Undersecretary Franklin Sunga, directing teachers not to include “Cayetano-only” votes in the count: “if only the word Cayetano is written on the ballot, the vote shall be considered stray.”

We cannot remember any other instance when the DepEd, the government’s largest single agency, ever issued a memorandum essentially protecting a nuisance candidate. The long arm of Malacañang is long indeed.

UPDATE: Now this is just sick.

Election inspectors in Obando, Bulacan, voided votes for “Alan Cayetano” after an election supervisor went around the precincts in the town telling the Boards of Election Inspectors that it was he—not Joselito Pepito Cayetano—who had been disqualified.

It was Joselito Cayetano, a senatorial candidate of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, who was disqualified by the Commission on Elections on May 11 for being a “nuisance.” But the decision was not yet final.

Closer to the Comelec’s central office in Manila, BEIs in the city’s sixth district also shunned the votes for Alan Cayetano, a senatorial candidate of the Genuine Opposition, because of guidance from certain Comelec officials in the area.

If our election officials are untrustworthy, WHO CAN YOU TRUST?

And automating our election systems won't really help much. It'll only make it more easier to cheat. Kumbaga, you won't even know it.

Sabi nga ng isang DIEBOLD spokesperson (sila yung gumagawa ng mga voting machines, back in May 12, 2006:

David Bear, a spokesman for Diebold Election Systems, said the potential risk existed because the company’s technicians had intentionally built the machines in such a way that election officials would be able to update their systems in years ahead.

“For there to be a problem here, you’re basically assuming a premise where you have some evil and nefarious election officials who would sneak in and introduce a piece of software,” he said. “I don’t believe these evil elections people exist.”

The admin gets the last laugh. Unless we can do the following:

2) A Zero Tolerance Approach to Cheating. It's a two-step process. First, reform the COMELEC and do a thorough housecleaning within the Election commission of all those involved in the dagdag bawas operations of 2004, and those who helped lie and coverup for those guilty COMELEC officials. Second, automate our voting system. But we need to do the COMELEC housecleaning first.

(UPDATED) COMELEC okays fake "Peter" Cayetano

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) weeded out the so-called “nuisance” senatorial candidates, trimming the senatorial bets to 37 from 79, but insisted on retaining one major “nuisance” candidate who would pose a serious problem to an opposition candidate who ranks high in surveys.

Of the 37 senatorial candidates which the Comelec included in the final list for the May 2007 polls, one candidate, Joselito “Peter” Cayetano of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) against whom Genuine Opposition (GO) candidate Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano has lodged a complaint in the Comelec for perjury and for his being fielded solely to destroy Alan Peter’s chances of victory in the polls, has been approved by the Comelec.

Joselito “Peter” Cayetano yesterday on television admitted that his nickname is not “Peter” but “Jojo,” and admitted further that he adopted the nickname “Peter” precisely to win more votes that would not be his, by virtue of the Cayetano name.

Sources, however, said this was a lie, since Cayetano, who lied about being a Marine engineer in his certificate of candidacy, knows that the votes that read only “Peter” or “Cayetano” will be deemed as spoiled ballots.

But he is not a nuisance candidate! Just ask Pidal, Abalos and Oliver Lozano.

In other news, the Ang Ladlad party was denied accreditation by the COMELEC.

Which led to this reaction from Manuel Buencamino:

As to Ladlad, Abalos also did not recognize a party list group with the acronym TOMA. He said drunks have no place in Congress.

And then he offered a ord of advice to Ladlad and TOMA : ” Aminin muna nila na mga bakla, tomboy at lasenggo sila.”

Before proceeding to allow the candidacy of the fake Peter Cayetano.

A bigot and a tuta of the Arroyos is in charge of the May election.

What does this say of the person who appointed him Comelec chairman?

I think Manuel is refering to this statement by the COMELEC Chairman: “Kung nais nila na seryosohin ng Comelec ang aplikasyon nila ay dapat na gawin lamang ng mga ito na lumutang at aminin sa publiko na ang mga ito ay bakla, tomboy at lasenggo.”

UPDATE: Joselito ruling an invite to more ‘nuisance’ poll bets

The Genuine Opposition (GO) yesterday hit at the recent decision made by the Com-mission on Elections (Comelec) upholding the candidacy of Joselito “Peter” Cayetano, a namesake of GO senatorial bet Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (Taguig-Pateros), saying the ruling will encourage more “nuisance” candidates to muddle up the electoral process in the country.

House Minority Leader Francis Escudero, also a GO senatorial candidate in the May 2007 mid-term elections, expressed dismay at the ruling made by the Comelec over the weekend, saying this would certainly cause a big dilemma on the part of the “original Cayetano.”

Representative Cayetano, for his part, said he believes that the ruling of the poll body might open the floodgates for many nuisance candidates being fielded for local elective posts.

He maintained that Joselito Cayetano’s candidacy was pushed in an attempt to block his election to the Senate, as fielding a namesake will confuse the public.

The Comelec decision, Alan Peter said, would set a dangerous precedent.

“This would even encourage parties to field namesakes to confuse voters for as long as they are endorsed by a party, which is easiest to do considering the multi-party system and coalition politics in the country,” he added.

Nah. Only the admin can get away with fielding nuisance candidates. Thanks a lot COMELEC. Thanks a alot Ben Abalos. Thank you ComelecAko. Thank you James Jimenez.

UPDATE: The issue of election spoilers first came out noong Jan. 4, 2007 when the admin vehemently denied it was looking for spoiler candidates to sabotage the opposition's senatorial candidates:

MALACAÑANG yesterday described as hogwash reports that administration political operators are planning to field as candidates persons with surnames similar to those of opposition senatorial aspirants to confuse voters.

Gabriel Claudio, presidential adviser for political affairs, said the administration does not engage in such dirty tricks.

Reports said Malacañang is trying to persuade a "T. Aquino" and a "J.M. Cayetano" to run for senators to split the votes for Representatives Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III of Tarlac and Alan Peter Cayetano of Taguig-Pateros.

T. Aquino is Teodoro Aquino, whose senatorial bid got thrown out by COMELEC.

Ayon kay Lacson, kandidato ng Genuine Opposition (GO), malinaw sa impormasyong ibinigay ng kanyang asset sa Davao City na isang kargador umano sa pier si Alyas Peter Cayetano, ang kandidatong inampon ng Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL), sa pamamagitan ni Atty. Oliver Lozano.

Isang lider ni Lacson sa Davao City ang nagkumpirmang isang kargador umano sa pier ang tukayo ni Cong. Cayetano, na nangangahulugan aniyang malaking kasinungalingan ang pagiging Marine engineer nito, katulad ng press releases ng kampo ni Lozano.

"Kilala siya ng isa sa mga lider ko sa Davao dahil ito raw iyong taong nagsanla sa kanila ng lupa sa may gawing Parola compound sa Davao," ani Lacson sa isang press conference sa Pampanga.

Aniya, hindi rin totoong Peter ang palayaw ng tukayo ni Cong. Cayetano at lalong hindi rin "Jojo" kundi ‘Visayan version’. "Ang tawag nga raw sa kanya ay Juju at hindi rin Jojo," ani Lacson.

Ang labis na ipinagtataka ni Lacson ay kung bakit nagtatago si Juju Cayetano gayong trabaho ng isang kandidato ang mangampanya para manalo, at hindi aniya ang magpakanlong kay Lozano o sa sinumang kampon ng administrasyon, katulad ng pagtatago sa isang safe house.

Juju pala ang palayaw niya, hindi "Peter."

On Cayetano's Citizenship issue: Gonzalez butata sa citizenship ni Alan

Butata kahapon si Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Raul Gonzalez matapos kumpirmahin ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na Pinoy si Taguig-Pateros Representative Alan Peter Cayetano at hindi nila iniimbestigahan ang citizenship nito.

Sinabi ni Immigration Commissioner Alipio Fernandez, si Cayetano ay nabigyan ng certificate of recognition bilang Filipino citizen noong taong 1992 sa panahon ni dating Commissioner Andrea Domingo. Ang naturang certificate ay kinatigan naman ni dating Vice President Teofisto Guingona na siyang tumatayong kalihim ng DOJ.

"In the 1972 and 1987 Constitutions, if either of your parents is a Filipino, you are a natural-born Filipino," pahayag ni Fernandez.

Itinanggi rin ni Fernandez na binubusisi ng BI ang citizenship ni Cayetano at sinabing ang mga tao na ideneklarang Pinoy, maging naturalized o natural-born Filipino man, ay hindi na iniimbestigahan pa ng kagawaran.

Ang kumpirmasyon ni Fernandez ay taliwas sa inihayag ni Gonzalez noong Lunes na inaalam nila ang rekord sa citizenship ng nasabing kongresista dahil umano sa sumbong na taglay pa rin nito ang alien certificate of registration.

Binigyan-diin pa ni Gonzalez na hinahanap nila ang mga dokumento ng nasabing pag-apruba ng DOJ dahil kung wala ito ay maaari pang madiskwalipika sa pagtakbo si Cayetano sa darating na eleksyon.

But Arroyo's COMELEC under Ben Abalos still seems to be in a fighting mode. Gimik lang raw yung pagku-kwestyon ni Alan Peter Cayetano yung desisyon ng COMELEC na tanggapin yung nuisance candidate na si Joselito "Juju" Cayetano.

“Gumigimik lang ni Congressman Peter Alan Cayetano nang kuwestiyunin nito ang kandidatura ng kaapelyido niyang si Jose Pepito Cayetano upang mapag-usapan,” Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Benjamin Abalos Jr. said during a press conference in his office yesterday.

Abalos said Cayetano’s action questioning the other Cayetano could have been his political strategy so that everybody could talk about him and that it could help him in the coming election.

NANGUNA sa pinakabagong survey ng Pulse Asia sa party-list groups ang mga militanteng organisasyon na nais ng pamahalaan na ipasibak sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) dahil nagiging “front” umano ng New People’s Army (NPA).

Base sa isinagawang survey noong Enero 25 hanggang 29, nanguna ang Bayan Muna matapos makakuha ng 16.4 porsiyento habang sumegunda naman ang Akbayan sa pamamagitan ng 9.1 porsiyento at pumangatlo ang Gabriela na nakakuha ng 8.8 porsiyento.

Kabilang rin sa ilang nanguna ang Angat Antas Kabuhayan Filipino Movement (AANGAT KA FILIPINO), 8.1%; Citizens Battle Against Corruption (CIBAC), 3.5%; Adhikain at Kalusugan ng Ordinaryong Tao Para sa Lupa, Pabahay, Hanapbuhay at Kaunlaran (AKO), 3.4%; Association of the Philippine Electric Cooperatives (APEC), 3.3%; at iba pa.

Hindi naman naisama sa survey ang grupo ng Anakpawis na kinakatawan ng bilanggong si Rep. Crispin Beltran.

People's Journal: Richard Gomez appointment questioned

AN opposition lawmaker yesterday questioned the appointment of independent senatorial candidate Richard Gomez as special adviser on illegal drugs and narcotics of the House of Representatives.

Iloilo Rep. Rolex Suplico, in a statement, also urged the Commission on Elections to look into Gomez’s appointment.

Speaker Jose de Venecia, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Gomez as a partner of the Lower House in its campaign against illegal drugs.

According to Suplico, the law prohibits appointment of government officials and advisers during the election period.

“Hindi ko nakita ang appointment pero mukhang may sabit ‘yan kasi may ban na sa appointment nitong January pa lang,” Suplico said.

Gomez signed an agreement with De Venecia as consultant and adviser of the House committee on illegal Drugs chaired by Ilocos Norte Rep. Roque Ablan.

Adminstration uses dirty tricks against Cayetano

I'm sure naalala nyo yung fake documents ni Ricardo Manapat sa National Archives at ang COMELEC dagdag bawas operations laban kay FPJ. Now here's another one, this time against Cayetano. Dapat lahat ng opposition candidates should stand up and defend Cayetano. Make this a big issue. Questionable itong ginawa ng COMELEC na seryosohin ang nuisance candidacy ni Joselito Pepito Cayetano, who's being managed by Oliver Lozano, a known Arroyo tool. But then again, what can you expect from Arroyo's COMELEC?

And as long as this issue is not settled, the opposition, especially mr. binay, adel tamano and others should make a big stink out of it--even if they have to do it on a daily basis. (especially binay. Remember when he was ganged up by the administration goons on false charges? if people didn't come together and defended binay, he would have been removed from his office by now.) They have every right to hold the administration accountable for this vile tactic and clear pandaraya from the administration (and let's not kid ourselves, the administration is behind it.) If people don't stand up now and condemn this blatant panggagago by Pidal and Arroyo's minions, you can be sure na madadaya na naman ang mga anti-arroyo candidates.

Despite obvious indications that Joselito Pepito Cayetano is a nuisance candidate out to ruin all “Cayetano” votes for Alan Peter Cayetano, Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos said they cannot disqualify the former because he was sponsored by a Comelec-registered party, Kilusan ng Bagong Lipunan.

Alan didn’t mince words and attributed to Mike Arroyo the dirty tricks.

The Malacañang connection is bolstered by the statement by presidential legal counsel Sergio Apostol that between Joselito and Alan, it could even be Alan who is a nuisance candidate because Joselito filed ahead of Alan.

It will be recalled that Mike Arroyo tried but failed to have Alan Peter expelled from the House of Representatives for exposing that there’s a multi-million dollar deposit in a German bank that is connected with the Arroyos.

The signs that Joselito Pepito Cayetano is a nuisance candidate:

1. His name is Joselito but he listed his nickname as “Peter”.He was accompanied by lawyer Oliver Lozano when he filed his COC last Sunday. Since then, he is not available for interview. He is reportedly a marine engineer from Davao.

Lozano, who is known as a tool of the Arroyos, said in any media interview with Joselito, he has to be accompanied by a lawyer. Isn’t that strange for a senatorial candidate?

2. Cayetano said initial investigation in Davao showed that a barangay captain put up a bvanner at Sasa wharf, “We support Joe Cayetano”.

Joselito’s place of residence is a property of the Philippine Coast Guard. Neighbors declined to be interviewed. They said he left the place two weeks ago and he has not been heard since then.

If the issue between this mysterious Joselinto and Alan peter is not resolved, all “Cayetano” votes will be invalidated.

Again, if the opposition doesn't defend cayetano and fight the cheaters in malacanang and the COMELEC NOW, they will lose this elections.

He even let the cat out of the bag. Oliver doubts if his Joselito will be disqualified by the Comelec. Otherwise, said Oliver, "First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo will get angry" at the Comelec.

Actually, it was Bongbong Marcos who made the comment about Mike Arroyo getting angry at the COMELEC kung na disqualify si Peter "juju" Cayetano.

JB Baylon: Pepito on a String

Depending on where you stand politically, the lightning visit of GO senatorial candidate Alan Peter Cayetano to the Davao residence of KBL senatorial candidate Joselito Pepito Cayetano is either a stroke of genius or one that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

The latter is how KBL senatorial candidate Oliver Lozano – whom I call "Oliver Twist" – sees it; Lozano seems to view the move by the GO Cayetano as a cheap trick designed to pressure the KBL Cayetano’s family into convincing Joselito to back off.

Of course, Alan Peter and his partisans see it otherwise – and so do many other Filipinos who either texted me about it or gave me their opinions about it, including the listeners of the daily public affairs radio program "Pananaw sa DWWW 774 kHz" which airs from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. Mondays to Saturdays.

You can understand why Lozano reacted the way he reacted. The short visit of Alan revealed a lot about the other Cayetano senatoriable – including such details as his family having been taken away from where they live in Davao, and the Cayetano matriarch actually expressing fears for her son’s well-being.

And if it is true that all that Joselito wanted to find in Manila was a job, what a successful job hunt he has had! Win or lose, we should expect Joselito’s life to improve for the better, much better, in fact, if suspicions about who is behind his candidacy are proven correct. Think about it: a man goes to Manila to find a job; he is drafted to run for senator and his whole family is uprooted and moved to parts unknown.

Contrast that to stories about movie actor Cesar Montano wanting to give up campaigning because he is running out of funds. It seems that Joselito Pepito doesn’t have Cesar’s problem, to think that Cesar is the successful actor and Joselito Pepito is, or at least claims to be, a marine engineer.

Cesar has no money and Joselito Pepito has no money problems at all.

Hmmm.

Double hmmm if, as is being reported, KBL titular head and FM namesake Ilocos Norte Governor Ferdinand Marcos Jr. denies having even endorsed the candidacy of Joselito Pepito, which should imply that Marcos Jr. is not funding the latter’s campaign. So if the Marcoses, with their vaunted wealth, are not funding the campaign of the KBL or of Joselito Pepito, then who is?

Maybe Oliver Lozano would know who is truly pulling Joselito Pepito’s strings? Then again, do we expect Lozano to tell? Or, should I ask, need we still wait for him to tell?

Plus: Alston witness on extra judicial killings shot dead

The political murders are not likely to stop, and neither is the Armed Forces of the Philippines likely to change its ways in “salvaging” more and more activists, despite a United States Senate panel announcing a probe on these extra-judicial killings in the Philippines that have not abated but continue to increase in number under the Arroyo regime.

A ranking Foreign Affairs official yesterday warned of a possible reduction of US aid to the Philippine government if the extra-judicial killings will remain unsolved.

And it is likely to remain unsolved, with yet another member of the leftist group Bayan Muna party-list who testified during the recent investigation by United Nations special rapporteur Philip Alston shot and killed in cold blood with her family members witnessing the murder.

The latest salvaging victim, Cheche Bustamante-Gandinao, stood as Alston’s witness during his visit to Mindanao. She was witness to the killing last month of her father-in-law, Dalmacio, then the provincial Bayan Muna chairman. She had earlier told media she feared for her life.

Joselito "juju" Cayetano is earning his pay. From Ellen Tordesillas:

The latest Pulse Asia survey conducted early this month showed that if the May 2007 elections were held today, 17 senatorial candidates would have a statistical chance of winning a seat in the Philippine Senate. Of those in this group, eight belong to the “Genuine Opposition” while another one is a guest candidate of this political coalition, six are running under “Team Unity”, and two are independent candidates.

Pulse Asia explained that for this particular survey, respondents were asked to write down the names of their preferred candidates on a “ballot” and to drop this in a “ballot box” to simulate the act of voting. Additionally, some “spoiled ballots” were counted involving senatorial candidates with namesakes who are also running for the Philippines Senate, namely, Tarlac Representative Aquino (2%) and Taguig-Pateros Representative Cayetano (5%).

Strangely, Joselito Cayetano, the administration’s candidate to destroy Alan Cayetano’s senatorial bid got 7.1 %, higher than Chavit Singson’s 6.5 %. If you add that 7.1 %t and the spoiled 5 % to Alan’s he would shoot up to no. 2.

Also, if the spoiled two percent Aquino votes were credited to Noynoy, he would be in number 5.

This proves that the nuisance candidates can thwart the true will of the people.

But what can you do? The COMELEC is run by crooked and partisan officials. How else to explain Joselito "Juju" Cayetano's spoiler candidacy being accepted by the COMELEC? How can James Jimenez and the the partisan ang Garci-defending ComelecAko look at people straight in the eye and defend the COMELEC's action on allowing Mike Arroyo's nuisance candidate to run?

I guess the only explanations for COMELEC's actions are: they're either stupid or corrupt in a sick Garci way.

Dapat talaga may housecleaning sa loob ng COMELEC after Hello garci, cuz many of the dagdag bawas operators are still there. But it never happened. Hindi naparusahan ang dapat maparusahan. Na-promote pa yung iba. And then there are those who covered up for the guilty operators, the people who stonewalled and protected the corrupt COMELEC officials. In my book, the coverup is worse than the crime. And they should be taken out too.

If they refuse to disqualify the "marine biologist" juju Cayetano, then the opposition should boycott the elections. If the opposition let's the Mike Arroyo and the COMELEC get away with this, ngayon pa lang, tapos na ang boksing sa opposition.

UPDATE: Ah, but people will make excuses, saying that Cayetano deserves this for going up against Mike Arroyo and not presenting enough evidence on the German bank accounts.

But if Cayetano really did screw up, then the admin had the numbers to punish and expel Cayetano. Pero bakit ayaw nila gawin ito? I believe it is because there is some truth to what Cayetano is saying. And also because they don't want to set a precedent. Baka balang araw, sila rin ang ma-expel.

If Cayetano did wrong, then let the people decide his senatorial candidacy in an honest and clean election. But by using dirty tricks and rigging the elections, Mike Arroyo lost whatever moral high ground he may have had with Cayetano... and he never had much moral high ground to begin with.

And the reason why many people were willing to believe Cayetano's accusation was because Mike Arroyo was once caught with his pants down in the Jose Pidal accounts.

But Mike Arroyo got away with it because Joker Arroyo and Sen. Barbers and the other lapdog defenders of arroyo stonewalled for him and shut down Lacson's expose, kahit na sangkatutak na ebidensiya ang ilinabas. The arroyo defensers gave this BS excuse na bawal raw gamitin ang xeroxed or "authenticated" na docus. Original lang raw ang dapat. Well, yung original ay either na kay Pidal o nasa bangko. Siguro hindi nila willingly na ibibigay yon kay lacson.

And then Joker and his gang accepted Iggy "I invoke my right to privacy" Arroyo as the "real" pidal. which only shows na biased at stupid si joker arroyo dati.

And who can forget Mike Defensor's "rescue" of udong mahusay from the kidnapper Ping Lacson? lol.

Neal Cruz explains how Alan Cayetano got screwed

by the COMELEC, Arroyo's Supreme Court, and Juju's handlers:

Another priority that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) should attend to is the disqualification of nuisance candidates. It is not difficult to recognize nuisance candidates. They are the candidates who cannot wage a national campaign, such as in a senatorial election which can cost a candidate hundreds of millions of pesos, or those who have the same name as a better-known and more credible candidate. The purpose of the nuisance candidate is to spoil the chances of the other candidate. With two candidates with the same surname, votes for that surname without any first name are considered “stray” and are not counted. Thus, the candidates lose many votes that way.

Of course, candidates who are adversely affected are quick to file disqualification cases. Because of the limited campaign period, and the time it takes to disseminate Comelec decisions and instructions to employees in the field, it is imperative for the Comelec to resolve these disqualification cases quickly.

But as in the resolution of election protests, the Comelec is very lackadaisical in deciding disqualification cases. Thus, the affected candidate loses precious time.

Take the case of Alan Peter Cayetano and Joselito “Peter” Cayetano. Anybody with a modicum of common sense can readily see that Joselito is a nuisance candidate. He is a poor worker who lives in a small house in a rural area. It is obvious he cannot wage a national campaign for senator. Even his relatives were amazed at his candidacy. And his nickname is not “Peter” but “Jojo.” It is obvious that he was persuaded to file his certificate of candidacy and use the nickname “Peter” to hew as close as possible to the name of Alan Peter Cayetano. The Comelec eventually found him a nuisance candidate and disqualified him. But when did it promulgate its decision? One day before the elections.

Then the Comelec said it could not remove his name from the list of candidates because the decision had not yet become final. Joselito had five days to appeal to the Supreme Court, which he did. Until now, the Supreme Court has not decided the case although anybody except the justices can readily see who is the nuisance candidate -- and the elections are already over.

To make matters worse, the Department of Education circulated instructions to teachers to consider all votes for “Cayetano” (with no first name) as “stray” and not count them. Ordinarily, these votes were set aside and then counted later in favor of whoever wins the disqualification case. But with the education department order, the Cayetano votes were not counted and forever lost, and can no longer be counted for Alan Peter even if he wins the case in the Supreme Court.

So you see, by delaying its decision on the disqualification case, it was as if the Comelec decided in favor of Joselito, or whoever his backers are. The purpose of his nuisance candidacy was achieved: to deny votes to Alan Peter Cayetano.

The Idiots at the COMELEC

When Oliver Lozano's and his protege, Joselito juju Cayetano, failed to show up at the COMELEC hearing on March 7, 2007, they should have disqualified Lozano's nuisance candidate right then and there:

Senatorial candidate Joselito Pepito “Peter" Cayetano did not show up on Wednesday’s hearing on his disqualification case at the Commission on Elections (Comelec), QTV’s Balitanghali reported.

Genuine Opposition (GO) senatorial candidate Alan Peter Cayetano filed a disqualification case against his namesake, after the Comelec last week, included Joselito in the list of 37 candidates given “due course" to run for senator.

You know what i think, papatagalin ito ng COMELEC for as long as possible. This BULLSHIT dirty tactic by pidal and the fools at the COMELEC is meant to damage and slow down Cayetano like what arroyo's forger manapat did to FPJ on the citizenship issue.

I do think GO should have a united stand against the COMELEC on the cayetano nuisance candidate issue. Everybody, nonyoy, ping, loren, villar, roco, everybody should be condemning the COMELEC for their partisan fealty to the Arroyos. You can't let Pidal and abalos get away with this nonsense. Boycott the elections if need be. Look, if the mike arroyo and his COMELEC cronies are allowed to get away with this nonsense. tapos na ang boksing. might as well pack up and concede defeat.

this IS a test on how much the administration can get away with their dirty tricks this election. katulad rin ito ng nangyari dati kay mayor binay (where the oppo and the anti-gma groups succeeded in thwarting pidal and arroyo's plans to cripple binay's candidacy.)

And now, we are faced with another test, where one popular member of the opposition is being screwed by the COMELEC. I fear the Opposition is failing the test on Cayetano. If they don't put pressure on the COMELEC to overturn their idiotic decision, well tapos na ang laban. I'm not going to support the opposition anymore. Because I'm not going to support a group of spineless people who can't even fight for one of their own.

if GO fails this one, if they don't fight for Cayetano, then they don't deserve to be elected. period.

The idiots at the COMELEC are still at it

It’s glaringly clear: there’s a method to all these madness.

After affirming late Friday afternoon that Joselito Cayetano is a nuisance candidate, Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos said writing “Cayetano” on the ballot will make it a stray vote.

He says the matter is still appealable to the Supreme Court.

In an interview with Alan Cayetano in Camp Bonifacio where he attended the boodle fight hosted by fellow senatorial candidates Antonio Trillanes IV, Alan said, “Comelec is supposed to clarify, not confuse.”

But that’s what Abalos’ Comelec is precisely doing. Confuse people. And we can only think of a multi-million reasons why they are doing that.

Akala mo wala na si juju ni Pidal. Pero may silbi pa siya.

Oliver Lozano is the Ricardo Manapat of this year's election

Remember former national archives director Ricardo Manapat? The guy who forged the birth certificate and other documents of FPJ to make it look like he's not a Filipino citizen--to damage Poe's candidacy? And got away with it? Because arroyo's justice dept. whitewashed the Manapat case.

Well, Oliver Lozano's pulling a similar Manapat-ish like stunt with his "marine biologist" nuisane candidate Joselito juju Cayetano.

The other Cayetano calims he is a marine engineer but a certification from the Professional Regulation Commission said he is not. Rep. Cayetano added that his election lawyer, Leila de Lima, is studying whether they could include Oliver Lozano, another KBL candidate, as an accomplice in the falsification case.
