DILG and Police - first instinct was to wash hands of tragedy and blame it all on ABS-CBN.
UPDATE: Neal Cruz:
THERE are two things wrong with the fact-finding committee that investigated the stampede at the PhilSports Arena (formerly Ultra): One is that the members are government officials and therefore can hardly be expected to find other government officials responsible for the stampede; second is that officers of police forces that have the duty of keeping crowds under control are in the investigating committee, so they can hardly be expected to find themselves negligent, 'di ba?
As predicted, the committee was quick to point accusing fingers at scapegoats, without digging deeply into the roots of the tragedy.
What is needed is an independent body to investigate not only the immediate cause of the stampede and who were responsible but look back at the root causes of the extreme poverty that forced people to risk their lives in the hope of winning a few pesos in game shows like "Wowowee."
Neal's right. We definitely need an independent body to look into this tragedy, para hindi biased at politicized ang investigation.
