Future Presidents

May discussion sa Pinoyexchange recently kung sino ang may potential na maging presidente in the future. Si Mike Defensor, si Francis Chiz Escudero, o si Gilbert Remulla?

From Pinoyexchange's faaip_de_oiad:

Though I'm very much supportive of the current administration, I couldn't help but be impressd with the way Congressmen Francis Escudero and Gilbert Remulla have carried themselves during house sessions (ok, all those I got to see on TV). Those two young pugs have shown statesmanship with a sense of professionalism and conviction without being overly offensive, flamboyant or superficial. They're simply exemplary speakers who seem to be able to ignore party lines when tasked upon to join discussions in Congress. Remulla is a lot composed and "cool" than Escudero though. Escudero's edge lies in his ability to speak in Filipino better.

Mike Defensor is another one. He's ok -albeit a little more agitated and pained-looking when speaking in public. Hopefully, he'll figure things out.

Eto naman ang 2 cents ko.

Francis Escudero has a great future. I notice na marami rin sa mga maka-administration ang humahanga sa kanya. So the guy has crossover appeal. And he has one of the toughest jobs in Phil. Politics right now -- that of being one of the high-profile spokespersons for the opposition, in a country where the mainstream media tilts pro-arroyo (ABS-CBN, GMA7, PDI, Philstar).

So there's little room for him to make mistakes kung ayaw niyang masira ang career niya (but he's done a good job avoiding those mistakes so far, IMHO.)

Si Remulla naman dating maka-opposition. Pero nung binigyan ng chairmanship sa House, lumipat siya sa administration. Kayo na ang bahala on what to make of this move of his. ;)

Si Defensor naman, he's damaged goods. Kung hindi lang presidente si Gloria, matagal nang ipina-aresto si Defensor for Kidnapping, Witness Tampering, and Obstruction of Justice when he abducted key Pidal witness Eugenio Mahusay from Ping Lacson.

From conrado de quiros:

Comes now the "rescue" of Sgt. Vidal Doble from the San Carlos Seminary led by his wife who claimed he was kidnapped by Ong and company and kept in the seminary under duress. Can anything be more ludicrous? It would be more believable if it hadn't happened before in the form of Mike Defensor raiding a safehouse in Tagaytay to "rescue" Udong Mahusay from the clutches of Lacson. Mahusay, Lacson's star witness in his case against Jose Pidal, alias Mike Arroyo, would later claim he was held against his will and knew he would be executed afterward. This, while being in the possession of a cell phone throughout the course of his abduction. To this day, Lacson has yet to be charged with kidnapping and frustrated homicide by Defensor and his boss.

A local saying puts it graphically: "Bumenta na 'yan."

He also made some vile accusations (ala victor corpus) against sen. jamby madrigal that he couldn't back up with facts, and was later forced to retract.

But Defensor never apologized for the slander.

Kung ikukumpara mo si Escudero at si Defensor, the pro-Arroyo mainstream media tends to be less hostile and more forgiving when Defensor slips or makes gaffes.

The same though cannot be said for the opposition people like Escudero and others.

(I mean, even his aunt Miriam "Brenda" Defensor Santiago's sometimes crazy and outrageous statements are getting a lot of free pass from the Mainstream Media nowadays, since maka-Administration na siya.)

At bakit ba palaging natatae ang itsura ni Mike Defensor kapag ipinagtatanggol niya ang boss niya sa tv? LMAO!!!
