Another example, on the Subic rape case...another bad PR tactic...it would have gained her more support if she herself made the statement that the govt would ensure the victim's support....or if not..at least make a token visit to the victim in Subic...i mean, what will she lose from the americans by making token/posterity acts...Para sa akin, another mali na naman...
Because she's afraid of losing the US' support if she's seen by the Bush admin as using the Pinay rape case to bolster her sagging popularity at their expense.
Look, nagalit ang US admin dati kay Arroyo for pulling out of Iraq prematurely. But at that time, she thought it was safe enough to piss off the Americans after she secured "a new mandate" in the 2004 elections. Wala pa ang GLORIAGATE scandals dati.
But nung lumabas yung balita at ebidensiya na ninakaw ni Arroyo yung nakaraang presidential elections, she needed the US governemnt's support again--now more than ever actually--so she can't afford to be seen going against the US on any key issues.
Ya, para sa kanya, mas importante pa ang supporta ng US, kaysa sa suporta ng mamamayan, which she never had to begin with anyway. Kung pati yung US magagalit sa kanya, we will probably see a repeat of Edsa 1986.
I mean, Marcos lasted 20 years because of US backing, didn't he, even though the guy's a brutal dictator. So it's not a bad gamble on Arroyo's part to not piss off the Americans.
