More from the Tribune: AFP group tags Angelo Reyes, NICA on C-4 orders
Eduardo Ermita claims there was no raid conducted on the tribune.
Ermita even reminded the Tribune not to write false articles such as those done at the height of the Proclamation 1017 or state of emergency, when the Philippine National Police “raided” the newspaper office.
“That was not true... there was no raid, our police only went there just to remind them of their responsibility... it was very different at the time of (Ferdinand) Marcos martial law rule in 1972. I was the military chief at that time and we really carted away equipment, people from media establishments. That could be referred to as raid but not in the case of Tribune, there was no raid. In fact, suspected individuals involved in the coup plot were just being invited by the police... there was no curtailment of (the freedoms of) the mass media... there was no martial law,” he said.

They are singing the same chorus even in Bacolod City.
In a rare yet biggest gathering of various organizations in the pro-vince, some 40,000 pro-testers yesterday demanded President Arroyo to step down from MalacaƱang, which the Kilusang Maka-bansang Ekonomiya (KME), main convenor of the event, claimed is the only option left to save the Philippines from economic degradation.
The various groups, representing women, labor, church and the academe, massed up at the Bacolod public plaza starting around 11 a.m. and were joined by more community groups, which according to police, reached as many as 40,000.
Party list Rep Risa Hontiveros was arrested yesterday by Arroyo's police for leading an International Women’s Day march because of "illegal assembly" raw. Paranoid talaga ang administration na ito.
