CBCP parroting the Arroyo administration line of "reconciliation"

Link here.

That's nice and all, BUT HOW THE FUCK DO YOU RECONCILE WITH SOMEONE LIKE ARROYO WHEN THE CRIMINAL FAKE PRESIDENT IS STILL IN POWER AND RULING OVER US??? HINDI NYO BA NAISIPAN YAN? ANO, FORGIVE AND FORGET AND "LET'S MOVE ON" NA LANG???

The CBCP has a huge problem. It still refuses to tell the truth about Arroyo's illegitimacy and acknowledge the fact that Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is the one dividing the nation.

Unlike before, where the Bishops and nuns had no problems in demanding Erap's resignation, this time they "straddle the fence" and continue to either ignore or remain silent in the face of mounting evidence vs Arroyo questionable mandate and corruption.

SOMETHING GOOD SHOULD COME OUT OF THIS MESS

By Bishop Teodoro Bacani Jr.

I AM VERY glad that my brother, Congressman Rodolfo Bacani, of the fourth district of Manila, signed his name for the impeachment of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He explained to me that he wanted the President tried in the proper forum. It is not sufficient to give her a media trial and convict or exonerate her through publicity. Neither can she be tried in a regular court of law, as this is forbidden by the Constitution. The only procedure that can try her and ferret out the truth is the impeachment process.

It makes me happy that Congressman Bacani also wants to find out the truth about the allegations regarding our President. I know that it has already cost him greatly in terms of political alliances. He has no doubt greatly disappointed his long term ally, Mayor Lito Atienza, who has cast his lot with President Arroyo, as he cast his lot with once with former President Joseph Estrada. But just as every politician should be able to say, “My loyalty to my party ends where my loyalty to my country begins,” so also he/she should say, “My loyalty to my partymates ends where my loyalty to the truth begins.” Only, in this case, the Liberal Party, to which Congressman Bacani belongs has allowed for a conscience vote among its members.

I am particularly glad that Congressman Bacani cast his lot with the pro-impeachment solons at a time when it was not clear that their cause would prosper or would be defeated on the basis of technicalities. The willingness and ability to take reasonable risks for a cause one believes is in one of the traits we want to see in our leaders. We do not want them to simply follow the crowd or to act only when cir*****stances are favorable to them. We all admire people like the late senators Pepe Diokno, Lorenzo TaƱada, and Ninoy Aquino because they fought for their cause, and our cause, even when their struggle seemed like a lonely and futile one.

While we cannot and should not convict people by publicity, it seems that there really is sufficient reason to indict the President. To me, the overkill done by government authorities in the Sammy Ong affair (soldiers surrounding the whole compound, a tank and truckloads of soldiers deployed outside a possible exit point, snipers on the ready in tall buildings on, the threat of filing a charge of kidnapping Sgt. Doble), plus the flight of Garcillano and the inability of the government to locate him are serious indications that the President has something to hide.

And now come again the well-founded allegations that farm funds released by the Department of Agriculture purportedly for farm inputs and implements were actually channeled to the campaign uses of the GMA campaign. It seems our President and her allies stopped at nothing to get her elected and would stop at nothing now to keep her in office even at the expense of the nation. While we cannot prematurely pronounce the President guilty of the betrayal of public trust, we should at least seek to know the truth in the proper forum, which is the impeachment process. If I recall right, Archbishop Angel Lagdameo was quoted in one of the newspapers as saying that the impeachment process should go on at all costs. Let it not be said in the future that congressman sacrificed the truth for the sake of a ruling president.

Meanwhile, as the President hangs on to her office, the pressure has been taking its toll on her ability to govern. One can easily understand this. Beleaguered as she is from all sides, it is easy to imagine that she spends much if not most of her time working out means and strategies of keeping her presidential post leaving her with little time for matters of governance. And so it is not surprising that MalacaƱang should come out with confusing directives, such as the conflicting announcements by Presidential Spokesperson Ignacio Bunye and Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita regarding yesterday as a non-working holiday or regular working day. The President’s men do not seem to coordinate anymore with each other. Do they still coordinate with their chief?

Though things seem to be confused and confusing, and though there we see no light yet at the end of this long tunnel, I continue to be buoyed up by a sense of hope that something good will come out of all this mess, for indeed, as St. Paul confidently asserts, “God makes all things work together unto good for those that love him.”

May we experience that good soon.

well, independent bishops like ted bacani and archbishop oscar cruz and a few others are pretty much on their own and are not getting any support from the CBCP.

tignan mo na lang yung jueteng expose ni oscar cruz. sabi ni CBCP president capalla na hindi sinusuportahan ng CBCP ang expose ni Cruz, just like they failed to support fr. nacorda when he was telling the truth re the corruption and collusion between the military and the abu sayyaf kidnappers during the lamitan crisis.

siguro kapag si erap pa ang presidente, mas magiging vocal sila. but not for GMA, because yung simbahan at military mismo ang naglagay kay GMA sa kapangyarihan.
