At saan naman natin kukunin ang perang pambayad diyan?

By raising OUR taxes, OF COURSE! For GMA's P6 Billion "dole out" plan:

But first, let's look for P6 billion

Malacañang yesterday defended its proposed food coupon system estimated to cost P6 billion a year as a temporary measure "to enable the people to cross over from extreme economic difficulty to more stable lives."

Presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye said government, during crises, "must serve first and foremost those who are on the edge of survival." But there was no mention of where the P6 billion would be coming from, except for a P350 million fund in anti-poverty programs.

Malacañang has been trying to cobble up a proper response to a Social Weather Stations survey in August which showed that 15.1 percent of Filipino households have gone without food once during the past three months.

Social Welfare Undersecretary Celia Yangco said the coupon worth P1,200 a month could fill the estimated one-third of the required nutritional intake of a family of six.

She said the food coupon system would be implemented before the end of the month, but those who are in dire need of food would be served by the DSWD's Crisis Intervention Unit and the local social welfare offices.

Under the plan, food coupons can be redeemed at the National Food Authority and possibly rolling stores and several food outlets.

Party-list representatives criticized the food coupon plan.

Crispin Beltran and Rafael Mariano (Anakpawis), Joel Virador (Bayan Muna) and Liza Maza (Gabriela) said the plan is only a shortcut solution to the ever-increasing poverty problem.

"Filipinos are not asking for dole-outs. They don't want to rely for food on the very good government which has neglected their plight for so long. What they need and demand are genuine and sustainable national economic development," Beltran said.

What we Filipinos need are jobs -- not doleouts -- which this administration is doing a poor job of providing. I mean, HOW ARE WE GONNA PAY FOR THOSE GMA, HOW???

When we last saw GMA in the last election giving out Philhealth cards to poor voters to buy their votes. I ask myself, WHERE ARE WE GONNA GET THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THOSE GMA, WHERE?!??

Of course, the answer is simple for GMA and her so-called "economic team of experts": WE WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES AND FILIPINO TAXPAYERS WILL HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE FOR OUR MONUMENTAL SCREWUPS.

Ang masama diyan is that the raising of taxes will affect the middle class the most, those people who are still working, but struggling to afford a decent living and barely able to survive.

If GMA had her way with new taxes, expect more of us struggling middle class people to change status and move below the poverty line. I don't see many of us surviving six more years of taxes and GMA's incompetence.
