I did not know that...

one of the Tribune's people was the target of an assasination. Interesting.

Napapansin nyo ba na konti lang ang naglalagay ngayon ng Christmas lights? I do. Walk around. Konti lang sa mga residential areas ang may Christmas lights ngayon. Probably because of EVAT sa kuryente, natatakot ang mga average Filipinos na magbukas pa ng additional lights dahil dagdag gastos lang yan sa electric bills.

I also noticed though that the gov't offices and buildings seem to be compensating for lack of "Christmassy look" this year by overdoing it with the decorations and lights. I guess now that they have raised our taxes, they have all the money to burn. Wouldn't it be better though if they did not raise our taxes and we get our own money na lang instead of surrendering more or it to the ARroyo admin.

If we get to keep more of our money, baka mas marami ka pang makikitang lights this year sa bahay.

Pero sabi ni Bunye kasalanan raw ng opposition kung bakit malungkot ang Christmas ngayon eh. Walang masyadong bumibili ng gifts, walang perang pambili...

JB Baylon:

I’m trying to imagine the day when Fil-Ams are the biggest political bloc in the United States, and Fil-Ams dominate both Houses of Congress. When a Democrat is elected president of the United States, Fil-Am senators and Fil-Am congressmen who are Republicans will jump ship and swear allegiance to the Democratic Party the day before the President’s inaugural on January 20. Four years later, if the Democrat is defeated for re-election, they will jump ship again and return to their "real roots" in the Republican Party. Isn’t that the way we play politics back home?

We are now being told that our politics is a mess because our Constitution is a mess. And the mess in the Constitution lies in its prescription for a presidential form of government with two Houses of Congress. We are being told that to shift to a French form would reduce if not totally eliminate our political problems; parliament is the solution because the presidential form has bred gridlock.

I am now trying to imagine Filipinos becoming the biggest bloc of voters in France, not as likely to happen as in the United States but who knows, given the continued exodus of our countrymen. Again, the moment a Socialist is elected president of France, the members of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies who are of Filipino blood would change sides and all become Socialists; once the Gaullists regain power, the Fil-French will switch sides again and back to being Gaullists they become.

Yeah, but Arroyo says changing the constitution is the answer raw. So, end of story.
