The Marcos Restoration

I predict Ferdinand Marcos will get a "hero's burial" at the Libingan ng mga Bayani during Arroyo's time. It is step one of Imelda's plan to clear their family's name.

Step two is to finally settle the issue of Marcos' wealth with this current administration. (Some of Marcos' money have already been used to bankroll GMA's campaign.) It will be done in a way where both sides can claim victory and that they got what they wanted.

And after having FM buried in Libingan and getting the settlement done, next is Step 3: Imee and Bongbong will run for national office. Imee for Senator and Bongbong maybe for president within 7 to 10 years.

Look, say what you want about Ferdinand Marcos and Imelda, but it's not fair to blame Bongbong and Imee for the sins of their parents. And I believe they are smart enough not to make the same mistakes their mom and pops have made. Plus, they are still young, and very charismatic too. The only things that are holding them back are the issues against their parents. Mabigat na bagahe yan.

So getting Ferdinand Marcos buried at the "Libingan ng mga Bayani" will help their future candidacy because Imee and Bongbong can say na "hero" na ang turing ng tao sa tatay nila. At kung magkakaroon ng "win-win" settlement ang Arroyo admin at ang mga Marcoses, then magkakaroon na rin ng "closure" sa issue ng Marcos Wealth. Two negative election issues against the Marcos children, off the table kaagad.

So those who are against the Marcoses since the beginning (like the Aquinos and other human-rights victims) will have a more difficult time using FM's past against BongBong and Imee.

I can see Bongbong the future presidential candidate 7-10 years from now promising to restore the Philippines back to "the old glory days" during his father's time, when the economy "was still strong" at may "direction" ang ating bansa... and that message will be accepted by many Filipino voters, I predict.

UPDATE: Sabi ni MLQ3 na mas matalino raw si Imee at siya ang mas may potential.

UPDATE: This ain't good, no?

Michael Tan has additional comments regarding that survey.

Dapat magalit ka instead kay Arroyo for even negotiating with the Marcoses on giving Ferdinand Marcos a "hero's burial."

galit kayo kay erap because of the marcos burial issue, pero hindi kayo galit kay GMA for planning to do the same thing?

medyo hypocritical yata yun.

gma is a big disappointment, there is hardly anything left to admire in her failed leadership. she has admitted to speaking with an election official and this is already highly iregular and suspicious and casts great doubt on her legitimacy. she needs to quit. i can't agree with you however on the "electability" of the Marcoses. wala ka naman tiwala sa mga Pinoy. there should be a constitutional amendment barring any person with even a few strands of Marcos DNA from participating in the national government. they have harmed our country enough. they should have been permanently disqualified in the manner that they permanently disqualified Ninoy a long time ago when the national will was there. now you and I are discussing the burial of a bogus hero who squandered a golden chance to lift the Philippines and who instead degenerated into a greedy and evil leader who sought only personal profit. so, what now FM has become of your fabulous earthly possessions? let this be a lesson in Philippine Politics for you and me

But i'm worried when I read surveys like this one. additional info here.

i must be getting old because i was a student of this very same Felipe Miranda in a poltical science course in diliman in 1980. he was at that time so pompous and arrogant and he smoked a pipe. obviously he did not thrive in that environment and needed to switch gimmicks in order to make a sturdier living. give me a break. marcos and estrada are of the same kind. Miranda must have conducted his survey amongst his fellow opportunist friends.
