UPDATE: Google Blog Search FAQ
More tips on how to use the Blog Search Operators:
- blogurl: Finds words in the blog's URL. So if you wanted to search for blog posts by anyone from About.com, you would use blogurl:about.com. So far I've found blogurl to be the most useful operator. For instance, I used blogurl:about.com to find all the posts currently indexed written by anyone here at About, and came back with about 63K results.
- inposttitle: Finds words in the post's title (although Google's Blog Search seems to be pretty focused on that anyway). You would type in inposttitle:"family guy" and get lots of posts about this Highly Inappropriate Show for Young People and Pretty Much Everyone Else (see my search results for "Family Guy").
- inpostauthor: This would return specific people's names. For example, you could do inpostauthor:smith would return results written by people with the name Smith. I tried using full names, like inpostauthor:"lockhart steele" but only got one result; same with inpostauthor:"wendy boswell", where I got nuttin', even when I removed the quotes, diddly squat. This needs some work.
- inblogtitle: You would think that "in blog title" would return results that are, you know, in the blog title. Not so. I used inblogtitle:coffee and got some WILD results; including "Gerbes, Algebroids and Groupoid Bundles, the emerging Picture". A closer look revealed that the title of this blog is The String Coffee Table, so techically the Google search was successful....in a kinda sorta way.
