OUT na si Cory kay GMA, pero IN naman ang mga Marcoses sa kanya

May kapalit na kakampi si Arroyo, ever since naging pro-impeachment si Cory -- ang mga Marcoses.

Let's start with Ellen Tordesillas' article today:

GOD indeed works in mysterious ways. We were almost had by Imee Marcos.

At the party tendered by Susan Roces for members of the House of Representatives who had signed the impeachment complain t(there were 47 of them at that time), Imee was there dressed in a bright pink T-shirt emblazoned with Susan’s picture. Susan paid tribute to them for "fighting for what is true and just."

Everybody that night talked about upholding the truth in the face of odds they were up against. Well, almost everybody because after the Jose de Venecia-led slaughter of the impeachment complaint against Gloria Arroyo last Tuesday, I checked my notes on a specific quote from Imee and there was nothing. She must not have said anything quotable because I was only taking down significant statements.

As of this writing, the usually-visible Imee Marcos has become invisible. The day after the impeachment burial, Marcos lawyer Oliver Lozano was at the Department of Justice reviving the request of his client for burial of Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng Bayani. Collection time?

We learned that a number of congressmen also immediately went to cash their checks last Wednesday. But a highly reliable source said Partylist Rep. Eulogio Magsaysay, one of the original signatories who withdrew support from the impeachment complaint, had cashed his long ago. It was deposited at the Eisenhower, Annapolis branch of the Bank of Commerce. (See full story on page one.)

Had Arroyo not subverted the impeachment process, in the same way that she subverted the 2004 elections, we would not have known the real Imee Marcos and Eulogio Magsaysay.

Well, matagal na nating alam na naging maka-Arroyo ang iilan sa mga Marcoses (specifically Imelda and Bongbong), but I thought Imee was still with the opposition.

Mali pala ako.

I guess totoo nga yung balita na may "secret deal" nga na nangyari between the Marcoses and Arroyo. Imelda gets to give Ferdinand Marcos a "hero's burial" sa Libingan ng mga Bayani, and in exchange, Imee will not vote on the impeachment complaint (aside from that, the Arroyo camp earlier got Imelda's lawyer Oliver Lozano to file a weak impeach complaint sa House para mabilis maibasura ito.)

Sabi ni Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales na dapat muna nating parusahan ang mga Marcoses bago si Arroyo.

He said it hurts him that the people have not learned from the past, “as in the case of the Marcos’ alleged ill-gotten wealth, which after a blazing start is now left in the backburner.”

“Not that we are not going to do anything about GMA. But start with the world’s biggest con. We started [but] we did not even end. We did not even follow it up,” he said.

Well guess what, IT WON'T HAPPEN, not during GMA's watch, at least.

LAOAG CITY—Negotiations between the Marcoses and the Arroyo administration are continuing for the supposed burial of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Details of the negotiations were under wraps but Ilocos Norte Gov. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed on Wednesday that his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, had been in constant communication with “some people in the (MalacaƱang) palace regarding a hero’s burial in the coming months.”

Asked who Mrs. Marcos was talking with, Governor Marcos said: “I think the President. Maybe not everyday but they are talking. I know that they talked last week and I’m sure that they are in touch.”

He added: “That’s why maybe (the burial will take place). We’re just trying to prepare for any eventualities. So maybe.”

The governor did not say when and how his mother began convincing the Arroyo administration to agree to a hero’s burial.

But the Marcoses have began preparing for the annual observance of Marcos’ 88th birth anniversary on Sept. 11.

Traditionally a working holiday in Ilocos Norte, Marcos’ birth anniversary gathers members of the Marcos clan.

Marcos anniversary stage for
reconciliation with Arroyo

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte: While the Arroyo administration is busy achieving political reconciliation, Gov. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday told reporters that his mother will invite President Arroyo to attend the 88th birth anniversary rites of the late

Marcos said his mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, is in constant communication with MalacaƱang officials on when his father could be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, the cemetery for war veterans and soldiers.

“I am not kidding. My mother has invited the President. I don’t know if the invitation has been accepted, but that is what my mother has in mind,” Marcos said.

Asked if this is a sign of a political reconciliation between the Marcoses and the Arroyo administration, Marcos said his family was waiting for the Palace’s response to its offer.

More here:

But politics is fluid; alliances shift. Facing impeachment and desperately seeking allies, Arroyo had a private dinner with Imelda Marcos last month and, when news got out, the president told reporters she wanted to ``have a healing of the wounds'' caused by the anti-Marcos revolution.

Ahhhh... Kasalanan pala ito ng mga taong lumaban kay Marcos, uhmmm, whatever you say...

PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Saturday said she was seeking reconciliation with all sectors not for her convenience but for the people to reap its fruits.

Ms Arroyo issued a statement following reports that she has initiated conciliatory talks with former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

"We reach out for reconciliation at the level of political leaders and at the level of the people and constituencies," the President said in the statement. "The fruits of nation-building are not for us leaders, but for the people to reap. Reconciliation should not be for the convenience of power holders but for the better future for the average Filipino."
